SHARE

MARCH 8, 2017

Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) refers to the policy approach under which producers are given a significant responsibility for the treatment and/or disposal of post-consumer products. Some bills are still in the very early stages, but the following states are considering the implementation of EPR programs:

  • Programs for the management of scrap tires: Arkansas, Arizona, California, Oklahoma, Texas and Vermont
  • Paint stewardship (including initiatives for lead based paint elimination): Indiana, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Oregon and Washington
  • Programs for the collection, transportation, and recycling of consumer electronics or e-waste: Illinois, Pennsylvania and Washington
