APRIL 7, 2017

Since last month’s blog post reviewing the latest state Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) bills under consideration, several more U.S. states have introduced EPR legislation. Some of these bills are still in the initial stages, but the following states are considering the implementation of various EPR programs:

  • Full EPR process for all products, including household hazardous waste, pharmaceutical waste and sharps: Massachusetts
  • Paint stewardship (including initiatives for lead based paint elimination): Indiana, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Oregon and Washington
  • Programs for the collection, transportation, and recycling of consumer electronics or e-waste: Illinois, Pennsylvania, Washington and North Carolina
  • Post consumer packaging disposal and recycling EPR: Connecticut, Massachusetts and Rhode Island
